Mathe im Kindergarten? Aber klar! Mathe ist viel mehr als Zahlen zu lernen und erste Aufgaben zu lösen. Mathematisches Grundverständnis kann wunderbar im Kita-Alltag gefördert werden. Kinder sind von Grund auf an Zusammenhängen interessiert. Sie stellen täglich viele Fragen mit denen Fähigkeiten im Bereich Mathe gefördert werden können. Von daher: Auf in die spannende Welt der Mathematik!
Mathematische Fähigkeiten, die schon früh erworben werden können:
- Mengenvergleich (größer/kleiner, mehr/weniger/gleich viel)
- Zahlenwissen (zum Beispiel Kenntnis der Zahlbilder)
- Zählfertigkeiten
- Erste Rechenanwendungen (mit Material, beispielsweise Wendeplättchen)
Das Erkennen, Erfinden und Fortsetzen von Mustern und Strukturen bilden die nicht zu vernachlässigende Basis für abstrakte, mathematische Strukturen, die Kinder über ihre ganze Schullaufbahn hinweg begleiten werden. Zahlen und Formen sind keineswegs nur theoretische Konstrukte, sondern stehen auch eng mit motorischen Erfahrungen in Verbindung.
Bei der mathematischen Arbeit mit Vorschulkindern im Kindergarten ist es wichtig, dass die Kinder ganzheitlich mit dem ganzen Körper und allen Sinnen angesprochen werden und spielerisch können schon die Kleinen mit unseren Produkten erste mathematische Grunderfahrungen „be-greifen“.
Die 6 Grundbausteine für mathematisches Verständnis im Kindergarten sind:

Durch das Legen von Mustern oder das Sortieren von Formen und Körper, sowie das Bauen von Türmen und Gebäuden mit unterschiedlichen Körpern, können Kinder Erfahrungen mit geometrischen Formen sammeln.
Diese Erfahrungen ermöglichen einen natürlichen Zugang zur Mathematik und bilden die Grundlage für ein mathematisches Grundverständnis. Anreize dies zu trainieren finden Kinder in ihrer täglichen Umwelt. Beispielsweise können sie Bauklötze nach Farben, Formen oder Größe sortieren. Diese dann wiederum zählen, ordnen und vergleichen. Dieser natürliche Zugang kann durch eine vorbereitete Lernumgebung und Lernspielzeug gestärkt werden. Bei richtiger Anwendung und Unterstützung werden so:

- Vorerfahrungen vertieft
- Schlüsse gezogen
- Neue Fragen erschlossen
- Voraussagen getroffen
Bereits in der Vorschulzeit können unterschiedliche Aspekte der Mathematik und mathematische Bildung durch spielerische Auseinandersetzung mittels kreativer Lern- und Lehrmittel erlernt werden. Dazu gehören gemeinsame Aktivitäten, Lernspiele, Lieder, Geschichten, Übungen am Computer und vieles mehr. Ziel ist es:

Schon im Säuglingsalter beginnen Kinder sich selbst im Raum wahrzunehmen. Sie entwickeln schnell ein Verständnis für das Verhältnis von sich zu anderen Gegenständen, von Gegenständen zueinander, beispielsweise von Tisch zu Stuhl. Ebenso wird ein Verständnis von Räumlichkeit und Perspektive entwickelt. Sie entfalten Räumlichkeitsvorstellungen in Zusammenhang mit Präpositionen: über und unter, neben, auf und so weiter. So gehen mathematische und sprachliche Förderung Hand in Hand.
Beim Türme und Gebäude bauen, sammeln schon die Kleinsten wertvolle Erfahrungen im Bereich der Geometrie und Raumwahrnehmung.
