Introducing More Movement in Schools & Kindergartens with Coordination Games
Coordination is not an innate ability but must be learned and fostered during a child's development. Coordination exercises for children are often underestimated; however, it is essential that alongside cognitive skills, balance and coordination abilities are nurtured from the earliest age. With age-appropriate coordination games from TimeTEX, you can promote coordination in children. Simultaneously, these games support active learning and enhance teamwork through two-player games.
What Are Coordination Skills?
There are seven different types of cognitive abilities that we would like to explore in more detail:
- Orientational Ability
- Reaction Time
- Adaptability
- Differentiation Ability
- Coupling Ability
- Balance
- Rhythm
It's important to understand that these coordination skills complement each other. Orientational Ability - What is it? It refers to the ability to coordinate and change the position of one's body. Reaction Time, on the other hand, describes how quickly individuals can react to one or more stimuli. You can easily train this with sprint exercises where kids have to react to a specific signal from the teacher.
Reacting to unexpected situations and changing movements falls into the category of Adaptability. You can strengthen this ability in children with fun chasing and tag games. Differentiation Ability is needed for fine-tuning multiple movements for a cohesive flow of motion. Ball games and throwing games with a softball, for example, are ideal coordination exercises for children.
Coupling Ability, closely linked to Differentiation Ability, is responsible for coordinating partial body movements. Jump rope exercises, for instance, provide an opportunity for coordination practice. Balance is about maintaining equilibrium. Simple coordination exercises for children in this category include balancing on a balance beam or standing on one leg.
Rhythm is not only essential for dancing and music but also for jogging. Games where children move to the rhythm of the music serve as training. Besides any kind of sports movement, coordination in children can ultimately be promoted with specific coordination games.
Enhancing Coordination Skills with Coordination Games
With TimeTEX's coordination games, fostering healthy coordination development in children is effortless. Here, coordinative skills are optimally trained because kids move quickly and flexibly while playing. Simultaneously, they combine various movements either simultaneously or sequentially. Our focus is on strengthening learned skills and subsequently building more complex movement sequences to support and foster children's development effectively. Whether in physical education classes, to break up lessons, during class changes, or at school events, our coordination games for primary schools are versatile!
