Tangram: Lay Colorful Shapes, Learn & Rediscover
With the Tangram puzzle game, promote understanding of geometric surfaces & figures in the subject Mathematics. Hardly any other puzzle game conveys so many basic geometric experiences and fascinates both young and old alike! Tangram is suitable for laying shapes, surfaces, and symmetries, providing absolute puzzle fun. Therefore, the Tangram game can be used repeatedly in classes over several school years. Discover online what children can do with a Tangram.
At TimeTEX, you can buy various sets with high-quality Tangram shapes made of colorful and sustainable plastic (RE-Plastic) and other great learning materials like Counting Chains. The products are made of 100% recycled plastic and are of equal quality and appearance to other plastic items. Specifically for use on the blackboard in geometry classes, we also offer a magnetic demo Tangram in our range.
How to Play Tangram?
The Tangram game is basically easy to explain: By disassembling a square, 7 tiles (also called "tans") are created, namely two large triangles, one medium triangle, two small triangles, one square, and one parallelogram. Countless figures and abstract shapes can now be laid out, such as people, animals, buildings, or ships, which are mostly predefined. Of course, players can also create freely. The rule is: the simpler and more closed the shape, the more difficult its decryption. The more differentiated a figure, the easier it is to replicate.
Usually, Tangram is played alone, but it is very suitable for partner and group work in geometry classes. Playing and puzzling together promote social skills in children.
Important: When playing, all 7 Tangram shapes must be used. In addition, the shapes must touch each other, and the pieces must not overlap!
Tangram - What is Promoted?
Tangram enables children to playfully access Geometry. It is particularly suitable for classes 2 to 4. We have listed 8 reasons why Tangram supports learning goals in elementary school:
- Geometric understanding
- Orientation in two-dimensional space
- Connections between shapes and surfaces
- Naming of surface shapes
- Creativity
- Combination skills
- Logical thinking & imagination
- Content and process-related competencies
